The major changes brought to Microsoft’s HoloLens 2

Contrary to its previous version, the HoloLens 2 has been designed and manufactured with businesses in mind. Indeed, Microsoft has brought a few essential changes to its device. The headset can now display 47 pixels per degree of field of view, which means more information. Its design is more lightweight and the chipset has been changed from an Intel one to a Snapdragon 850.

Further details about the headset

Regarding its sensors, Microsoft has updated the previous ones to enable time-of-flight depth. It means that the HoloLens 2 features better gesture controls via which both hands can be used to interact with the headset. Furthermore, the design now consists of a single attachable band as well as a washable brow pad.

The device does not need to be fitted

Additionally, unlike its predecessor, the HoloLens 2 does not require special adjustments when it is about to be worn for the first time. Indeed, the gadget only requires to be tightened at the back and it is ready use. The wearable is equipped with two small cameras designed to adjust the image to the user’s eyes.

Information about the availability of the product

Showcased at the 2019 Mobile World Congress, the wearable is already available for pre-order at the price of $3,500. However, an official release date has not been confirmed for the mixed reality smartglasses yet.
