The full title of the David Menasche memoir is The Priority List: A Teacher’s Final Quest to Discover Life’s Greatest Lessons. The movie adaptation of such a literary artwork will see Steve Carell in a type of role that he does not usually take on.

The film, like the book, will tell the life of Menasche. This teacher, afflicted with brain cancer, decided to launch himself upon a cross-country voyage to “reconnect with former students from his 15-year teaching career”. His story is one of a man who has made peace with the little amount of time he has left on earth and who decides to make the most of it.

Steve Carell’s role in The Priority List will be his first since the 2012 movie Seeking a Friend for the End of the World. He had starred in the latter movie with Keira Knightley. The actor will be well out of his comfort zone, which is comedy. He has recently been seen in the second release of the Anchorman sequel and was one of the main voice actors for Despicable Me 2.

There has been no release date confirmed yet for the movie adaptation of The Priority List. All that has been made public for now is that Steve Carell is attached to the project and that Warner Bros. Vice-President of creative development Andy Fishell is the one who signed the deal with Menasche for the movie adaptation.
