Star Citizen will be an utterly successful MMORPG thanks to its crowdfunding campaign. In a recent teaser of the videogame, its founder Chris Roberts explained that the game will possess its very own economy.

This news has definitely made the millions of Star Citizen fans ecstatic. The game is already being hailed as a future reference in the universe of realistic gaming and now its founders announce that its economy will respond to the gamers’ actions and decisions within the game.

The MMORPG has gone over its expected 14 million USD crowdfunding this week. This number only takes into account the money which has been donated by US fans. What this means is that Star Citizen will now include a simulation which creates missions for the players to participate in. These missions will help players gain finances and will thus power the game’s economy. What will be interesting is that these missions will be prey to hijackers. This means that mercenaries will sometimes be needed to keep the hijackers at bay.

This new economy system developed by Chris Roberts and his team in Star Citizen is indeed very impressive. However, when taking the developer’s past experience into account, one may better comprehend the level at which Roberts operates. Before starting to work on this videogame, Roberts was in charge of developing the game Wing Commander, which is one of the most respected videogames in the world.

Chris Roberts has also directed two critically acclaimed movies. He was the director of Lord of War, a 2005 film with Nicolas Cage and Jared Leto. The 2006 film Lucky Number Slevin was also directed by him. If you wish to better understand Star Citizen’s economy, you will certainly want to watch the video in which Roberts explains it on YouTube.
