mobile and telephony Mobile - Smartphones - Landlines Samsung & Nokia: new Smartphone apps for music streaming and download 29/01/2013 15:01 (By Etienne Jean de la PERLE)  Nokia and Samsung's new smartphones are now better equipped to process musicSmartphone users who possess a Nokia Lumia or a Samsung S2 or S3 device will soon be able to access new music-based services. These services will be free or premium. The main reason why these two companies are investing in furthering their interests in the music streaming application business is that they want a bigger share of this market. This venture is very understandable. Any new smartphone which Nokia or Samsung has launched recently is equipped to provide the best auditory experience to the user. Last September, the Finnish phone company has provided its users with a very interesting service dubbed Nokia Music. This service allowed smartphone users to stream and listen to a large number of playlists composed by other users. No one was to expect that this free service was only a teaser of what was to come! Nokia is now proposing a new premium version of the service called Music + which will allow its users to stream and download tracks for €4 or $4 a month.
As for Samsung, they have also planned to make things hard for their competitors. The Korean electronics company has launched its very own service called Music Hub. According to TJ Kang, senior vice-president of Samsung, the Korean company is ready to compete directly against Google, Amazon and Apple. The only hiccup which could occur is that the company does not obtain licensing rights to provide their services to international smartphone users. These two companies seem ready to make life harder for their competitors. With the launch of the Galaxy S3 and the Lumia, both of them have had their market value go up. The main reason for this is that many smartphone users who do not want to go abroad the iOS train choose Samsung’s Android or Nokia’s Windows Phone handsets.
